5 PRODUCTIVE THINGS TO DO ON A SUNDAY!

How many self-help books have you read?

I'm pretty sure I have read dozens upon dozens, and I will say that they all have valuable information in them. However, unless you take small steps every day, they are useless. They are just another distraction that makes us feel productive – "I'm learning," "I'm TRYING to improve myself"… What excuses have you used? At least we are not on Facebook scrolling through the feed, right?

Often, when I try to delay doing something, I "trick" myself with something that can very easily be looked at as a step in the right direction. For example, these thoughts would pop into my head - "well I haven't gotten enough steps today so I should go for a walk," or even if I'm not hungry, but I'm not ready to go brush my teeth - "I will peel a carrot," five servings of fruits and vegetables, a day, right? "Wasn't there an email I saw in my inbox about that blog that may 'help' me with my current task?" And just like that, I'm back in a rabbit hole.

Anyone else? Maybe it's just me. Why is it so easy to procrastinate? I will continue, later, going for a walk. Baby steps.

Done! I'm back. I took a shower, made myself a hot chocolate, popped L-theanine to improve concentration, and decided to check what the meaning of "down the rabbit's hole" really means… After reviewing several sites, yep – just as I thought. My journey to find that answer led to me checking out a link to see when that movie "Alice in Wonderland" was made (July 26th, 1951) and the other phrases that came from that book by Lewis Carrol… Just in case you are wondering, I wouldn't want you to do the work I already did. According to the Mental Floss article, these are the few others:

  • Mad As a Hatter

  • Cheshire Cat Grin

  • What a Strange World We Live in - - hahaha, and it was written before now

I realized - it's Sunday, and it's fun not to have direction every once in a while - so do what feels right and enjoy your Sunday!
