5 FUN WAYS TO BRING BALANCE TO YOUR DAY AND GET THINGS DONE!
Set a timer for 1 hour and do as much as you can in that time. Then do something fun or something that excites you but doesn't involve Instagram or Facebook. I like to stretch, paint, read an article that I didn't get a chance to read, or research a fun recipe to make on my next break. TIP: Shawn Anchor, in his book, The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work, suggests minimizing effort or what he calls "the Activation energy" so make it easy for yourself and have your paint set and drawing pad on the desk or within reach or your sneakers ready to go.
If there's a task that you can't stand, pair it with something enjoyable like a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte or my favorite - homemade Sharlotka (Russian apple pie) or both. My version has lots of protein and fiber - I use tigernut flour instead of white flour and lower sugar to 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp stevia.
Feeling that you are constantly running against the clock is draining your energy! Empower others to complete non-essential tasks for you. Be creative about it! And replace those non-essentials on your to-do list with self-care like stretching or reading a book or, better yet, reading a book while stretching! I'm obsessed with multi-tasking my wellness! I often do leg lifts while brushing my teeth or research things while jogging in place.
Anticipating something pleasant increases your well-being, according to many studies. Squeezing a few minutes into your day to focus on your goals and picturing yourself achieving them or planning a vacation (both are manifesting), or looking forward to watching a fun movie with your kids, will make you feel joyful in the present!
Literally, try to balance yourself on something or in a certain pose! Your brain loves these tricks, as do I! Additionally, balancing poses help with anxiety as you can only focus on one thing at a time, so focus on keeping your balance!
