3 EASY WAYS TO OPTIMIZE BRAIN POWER
Ever hear, "TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAMS WORK," that also applies to your brain. Learn to OPTIMIZE YOUR BRAIN POWER by synchronizing the left and right brain hemispheres with simple exercises and breathing techniques. Can you imagine how much MORE PRODUCTIVE and CREATIVE you will be if you can get extra brain power on demand?
"Neuroscientists have long known that cross- body movements help the left and right hemispheres of your brain to connect and coordinate. This is important because the more your hemispheres connect, the more optimally you perform on any given task."
These movements are "calming and energizing, you can use it to both discharge energy (as in, after a stressful meeting); or recharge your energy (before a big presentation)."
CROSSOVER SHOULDER PULL gives us clarity of mind and is relaxing and invigorating. It crosses the energies from the right to the left sides and vice versa. Push your left hand hard into your right shoulder (as if you are giving yourself a shoulder massage) and drag over to the left side of the body. Repeat with the right hand, dragging it over to the left side of the body. Repeat a few times.
EXAGGERATED WALK IN PLACE - you can start by standing up and walking in place, making it slightly more exaggerated and tapping your left hand to your right knee. I recommend you do it for one to two minutes. If you want a more challenging routine, tap your ankle behind you. Another alternative is to bring your elbow to your knee. That will give you a stretch as a bonus as well.
ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATHING - this is my go-to for so many things! The gist - the left nostril corresponds to the brain's right hemisphere and the right nostril to the left hemisphere. Alternating between the two brings balance between the hemispheres so you can simultaneously be creative, calm, and analytical. If you close your right nostril and breathe through the left nostril, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system and bring calmness, coolness, and focus. Breathing through the right nostril is energizing and boosts digestion. How to do it: close your left nostril and breathe deeply through the right nostril. Now close your right nostril and breath out through the left. Repeat for 3 minutes.
